Steady Swim Speed Sets the Tone for a Well-Paced Sprint Finish Melissa Schultz opened her Spudman Sprint Triathlon with a strong swim, clocking 19:07 and moving into the top third of the field (172nd overall, 80th among women) before transitioning. T1 took 7:08, a spot where trimming time could help tighten her overall result. On the bike, she averaged roughly 13.4 mph over the 55:49 split, holding a consistent effort through the rolling course. The run showed real range after settling into a steady rhythm near 13:00/mile, Melissa surged through the third mile marker, covering that stretch in 12:31 and briefly climbing to 62nd overall and 7th in her division for that segment. She closed strong with a quick final push, finishing in 2:05:09 with a swift 2:37 T2. Overall, she placed 283rd out of 570 athletes and 33rd in her 20-29 age group, capping a well-rounded performance with clear bursts of strength in both the swim and run legs.
