Fast Swim Sets the Tone for a Determined Olympic Finish Griffin Rhees opened his Olympic-distance race in Burley with a strong swim, surging from 1369th overall at the start to 699th by the swim exit a clear sign of solid open-water fitness. That momentum carried into the bike, where he pushed some segments as fast as 16.6 mph, particularly in the middle miles, showing real strength on the flatter and downhill stretches of the course. The bike leg overall settled in around 13.8 mph, with some fluctuation in effort across segments. T1 ran a bit long at 6:49, an area worth tightening up for faster transitions. On the run, Griffin started strong with a 12:31 opening mile pace but gradually slowed through the back half, finishing in 3:44:25. Building durability for the run's later miles could help him close out future races with more consistency.
