Strong All-Around Effort Highlighted by a Swift Bike Leg Alec Merrill turned in a well-rounded Olympic-distance performance, finishing 70th overall out of 1,987 athletes and 6th in the competitive 25-29 age group. His swim was a definite strength, exiting the water in 19:16 for 96th overallan excellent showing in a stacked field. He carried that momentum into a standout bike leg, averaging roughly 20.2 mph over the course, which moved him up to 65th overall by the bike dismount. The run proved to be his most challenging segment, settling into a steady 8:30/mile pace overall. While his swim and bike splits showed real strength and consistency, the run split suggests an opportunity to build run fitness off the bike for future races. Overall, a strong, well-executed race with clear signs of a versatile, developing triathlete.
