Strong Swim Start Powers a Gritty Endurance Finish Alisa Cook opened her Olympic-distance race with an outstanding swim, exiting the water in 21:17 good for 63rd among all women and 8th in her division, a clear early strength to build on. She carried that momentum into the bike leg, holding a steady pace of roughly 13.2 mph over the course, which moved her up to 47th in her gender group at one point before settling into the pack by the bikes end. The run proved to be the toughest leg of the day, with her overall pace slowing into the 1416 minute/mile range over the final miles. This late fade shifted her results from a top-tier swim position to a 336th overall female finish. For Cook, the next step could be building run durability off the bike pacing strategies or brick workouts may help her hold onto the strong positioning she earned in the water and on the bike.
