Strong Bike Surge Powers a Solid Olympic-Distance Finish Tyler completed the Olympic Triathlon in 2:33:22, placing 93rd overall and 9th in the men's 30-34 division out of nearly 2,000 participants. He exited the water in 19:07, good for 87th overall, then turned in the standout segment of his day on the bike, averaging just under 20 mph over the 24-plus mile course. That effort briefly vaulted him as high as 32nd overall mid-ride before settling into the mid-70s by T2. The run continued at a steady clip, holding around an 8:40-8:50 per mile pace across the 6.2-mile course, closing out with a strong final mile near 7:53. Transitions were efficient, with T1 and T2 combined under seven minutes. Given the bike strength shown here, sharpening swim-to-bike transition speed and finding a bit more consistency in the back half of the run could help him climb further into the top placements in future Olympic-distance events.
