Steady Pacing Highlighted by a Strong Mid-Bike Surge John Brassell completed the Spudman Sprint Triathlon in 2:00:44, finishing 129th out of 570 in the men's field and 27th in the 1519 age division. His swim pace settled around 35:09 per mile, a solid, controlled effort that set up a smooth transition into the bike leg. On the bike, John averaged roughly 13.3 mph over the course, with his best stretch coming in the second half where he pushed closer to 14.8 mph a clear sign of strong power output once he found his rhythm. That surge briefly moved him into the top 65 in his gender group. The run settled into a consistent 11:24-per-mile pace, holding steady through the final miles. With a strong mid-race gear already shown on the bike, extending that intensity earlier in the ride could be a good focus for future races.
