Powerful Bike Leg Fuels Strong Olympic-Distance Finish Ben Child turned in a well-rounded Olympic triathlon performance, finishing 200th overall out of 1,987 athletes and 16th in the competitive 19-24 age group. His swim carried solid early momentum, aided by the current, before transitioning into the standout segment of his race: the bike. Covering the bike course at close to 19.9 mph, Ben moved up significantly in the standings, climbing into the top 150 overall by the time he dismounted. The run leg showed encouraging progression as the race wore onhis per-mile pace tightened from the mid-11:00s early on down to under 9:00 by the final miles, a sign of strong pacing discipline and a durable finishing kick. Transitions were efficient and cost him little time. Overall, this was a strong, balanced Olympic-distance effort, anchored by an excellent bike split and a run that got faster when it mattered most.
