Bike Power Carries Solid Olympic Effort Before a Late-Race Fade Jacob Porter completed his first tracked Spudman Olympic Triathlon in 2:57:07, finishing 435th overall out of 1,987 athletes, 364th among men, and 66th in the competitive 35-39 age group. The bike leg was clearly his strongest assetaveraging roughly 19 mph over the 24-mile course, he climbed as high as 148th overall by the mid-ride mark, showing excellent power and consistency on two wheels. The run told a different story. Jacob opened strong, holding a sub-10-minute-mile pace through the first mile off the bike, but pace steadily slipped into the 11:3012:15 range over the following miles, dropping him from 189th to 387th overall by mile 30. Sharpening run endurance to sustain that early speed could translate his strong bike fitness into an even more competitive overall finish next time.
