Date: July 25, 2026 Participant: Tom Calton #4044 Race: 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon Event: Olympic Triathlon Weather: Hot, but otherwise a great day for a triathlon.

Steady Swim, Powerful Bike Surge Anchor Solid Olympic Effort Tom Calton turned in a well-rounded performance at the 2026 Spudman Olympic Triathlon, using the Snake River's current to post an efficient swim before settling into a strong rhythm on the bike. His cycling leg stood out most, averaging roughly 17 mph overall with a stretch mid-ride where he surged into the top 250 overall, hitting sustained speeds near 19-20 mph before easing into T2. The run proved more of a grind, as his pace settled into the 11:30-12:30 min/mile range over the final 6.2 miles, dropping him back into the 600s overall by the finish. Still, Tom closed out with a 3:14:34 finish, placing 97th in the competitive 35-39 age group. With such a strong bike foundation already in place, dialing in run consistency off the bike could be the next area to sharpen for an even stronger overall result.
