Consistent Contender Delivers Another Podium-Caliber Olympic Finish Israel closed out this year's Olympic-distance race in 2:15:36, good for 21st overall and 2nd in the competitive 40-44 age group. His bike leg stood out, holding a blistering pace of roughly 23.8 mph over the 18.93-mile stretch, moving him up to 24th overall by the time he hit T2. Transitions were sharp as well, with a 2:04 T1 and a lightning-fast 1:08 T2, both ranking among the field's quickest. Looking at his Spudman history, this outing continues a strong multi-year trend, sitting just behind his personal best of 2:09:31 in 2022 and his division win last year at 2:10:29. His run leg (48:07) showed solid closing speed, dropping under 7:30/mile pace in the final miles. With his bike strength well established, tightening the swim split slightly could help him climb back toward the top of his age group next season.
