Consistent Pacing Secures Top Age Group Finish Jeff Walls completed the 2026 Whidbey Island 10K with a strong finish, displaying consistent pacing throughout the race. His overall time was 49:59, with an average pace of 8:03 minutes per mile. Notably, Jeff dominated his M65-69 age division, securing 1st place consistently from start to finish. The initial mile set a solid foundation with a split time of 7:25, which was the fastest pace he maintained during the race. Within the 6.2-mile race, Jeff maintained a pace proving competitive against overall participants, placing 16th out of 293 runners. After a slight uptick in split time during miles two through four, he quickly adjusted, concluding the fifth and sixth miles with improved paces of 7:53 and 7:42, respectively. Strategically varying his pace, especially picking back up in the final stretch, was instrumental to his performance. Continued focus on pacing consistency will sustain his position at the top of his division.
