Consistent Acceleration for Top Division Finish Jalen Gooch delivered a remarkable performance at the 2026 Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon, achieving an impressive first place in the M20-24 division. His total time was 1:28:47, correlating with an excellent average pace of 6:46 min/mile. Jalen picked up speed significantly as the race progressed: from an 8:39 min/mile in the first split to peaking at 5:56 min/mile by the ninth split. He demonstrated exceptional pacing strategy, steadily moving up in overall placement, finishing 24th out of 2,211 participants. Throughout the course, Jalen showcased outstanding improvements, especially between the 4-mile and 10-mile marks, consistently clocking sub-7-minute miles. His ability to maintain and increase pace positioned him well among seasoned competitors.
