Consistent Performance with a Strong Finish The team "Chafing a Bigger Dream than Chafing the Dream" achieved an impressive showing at the 2026 Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon Relay. Despite the ups and downs typical in a relay, they maintained an overall pace of 8:11 min/mile. A particularly notable moment occurred during the 11th mile, where they quickened their split pace to 7:55 min/mile, finishing the event with a total time of 1:47:22. Throughout the race, the team strategically maintained their competitive position. Beginning with an 8:19 min/mile pace and moving to consistent 8:07-8:13 min/mile splits, they held their rank as 2nd in their gender consistently from the fourth split onward. Their optimistic split of 7:58 min/mile in the final mile ensured a commendable overall placement. Perhaps focusing on reducing the slow-downs in a few middle splits could enhance future performance.
