Strong Finish and Consistent Gains The team known as "BANAna Splits" from Morro Bay delivered an impressive performance in the 2026 Santa Barbara Wine Country Half Marathon Relay. With a total elapsed time of 1:39:31 and an average pace of 7:35 min/mile, they secured 5th place overall and finished 1st in their division. This strong finish was bolstered by marked improvement in pace, dropping from 8:50 min/mile in the first mile to a rapid 7:36 min/mile by the end of the race. Consistent gains were seen throughout each split, particularly from the 6th mile onward where the team steadily maintained high speeds. Noteworthy is their final push, which saw a particularly swift mile at 6:39, ranking them 7th overall at the 8th mile. Their ability to accelerate as the race progressed was a key factor in their top placement, suggesting effective pacing strategy and endurance management.
