Strong Middle Splits Lead to Consistent Race Performance In the 2026 Shamrock Run Fest Half Marathon, Justin Pfeifer delivered a consistent performance with an overall time of 1:44:07 and maintained an average pace of 7:56 min/mile. Notably, Justin's early splits were strong, running progressively faster from the 8:23 min/mile at mile 1 down to 7:54 min/mile by mile 3, reflecting a strategic effort. A commendable aspect of Justin's race was his ability to maintain a consistent pace in the middle sections, particularly between miles 5 and 9, where every split hovered close to 8:05 min/mile. By mile 10, Justin picked up speed with a split pace of 7:30 min/mile, closing out the final miles with a solid negative split finish at 7:24 min/mile for the last mile. Rounding up at 47th in his division (M40-44) out of a sizeable group of participants, Justin's pacing strategy clearly paid off. Working on maintaining peak speeds achieved in late stages earlier could provide even more competitive results in future races.
