Consistently Improving Splits in the Middle Stages Earvin Bounnavong from Portland showed an impressive performance in the 2026 Shamrock Run Fest Half Marathon. Covering a distance of 13.1 miles, he achieved a total time of 1:46:18 with an average pace of 8:06 min/mile. Earvin demonstrated a notable capability to progressively improve his pace, particularly evident between miles 2 and 4 where his split paces decreased from 7:59 min/mile to 7:42 min/mile, indicating a strong mid-race push. In the early splits, Earvin settled into a consistent rhythm, and his best effort in mile 10 with a split pace of 7:14 min/mile, was a highlight of his race, propelling him forward in his rankings. Engaging with a total field of 4,421 participants, Earvin secured a place within the top 15% of his division. Analyzing his fluctuation in pacing, particularly the later miles, focusing on maintaining a steadier pace after mile 8 might help in future races.
