Consistent Effort Leads to Strong Finish Makoto Sakai showcased noteworthy consistency during the 2026 Shamrock Run Fest Half Marathon, maintaining an average pace of 8:31 min/mile. With an overall time of 1:51:40, the race saw him finishing 995th out of 4,421 participants, and importantly, 159th in his M25-29 category. His performance inadvertently highlighted a standout section from mile 12 to the end, where he achieved his fastest split at 6:45 min/mile. Despite a slower second mile at 10:46 min/mile, Sakai successfully picked up speed with several splits sub-9:00 min/mile, demonstrating a robust race strategy. The split at mile 12, covering 7:31 min/mile, followed by a strong finishing mile, significantly improved his overall positioning. Consistent training could further enhance his start to maintain initial pacing. Solid effort overall, reflecting dedication and determination as part of the On Run Club.
