Steady Improvements and Strong Finishes Lauren McMicking of Portland, OR, competing in the 2026 Shamrock Run Fest 8K, demonstrated consistent progress throughout the race. Starting with an 8:03 min/mile pace, she improved her pace significantly by the second mile to 7:40 min/mile and maintained sub-7:40 paces in the following splits. Particularly noteworthy was her steady pacing between miles 2 and 4, dropping consistently in overall and gender placement. Overall, Lauren finished with an elapsed time of 37:58 and an average pace of 7:38 min/mile. She ranked 414th overall, 116th among all female competitors, and 24th in the F35-39 division out of a total of 5,185 participants. Maintaining a steady improvement in her pace from the start is commendable. While she showed strong pacing in the middle miles, trying to shift that strategy a bit earlier could help reach new personal bests.
