Improved Mid-Race Momentum Thomas Williford from Portland, OR, participated in the 2026 Shamrock Run Fest 5K, proudly representing his team, Baker Tilly. Notably, Thomas demonstrated a marked improvement in his second mile compared to the first. At the first mile, his pace was 23:25 min/mile. Remarkably, he quickened his pace to 9:17 min/mile during his second mile, climbing up the ranks, which was a commendable shift from 4875th to 3749th position overall. Although there was a deceleration towards the final stretch, registering a time of 16:10 min/mile, the overall pace of 16:13 min/mile for the race was consistent with most of the field. Ending with an overall time of 50:17, Thomas finished 272nd in his division. Focusing on maintaining the consistent speed demonstrated during the second mile across the rest of the event could provide further positive results in future races.
