Consistent Start with a Strong Finish Jay Garcia performed in the 2026 Shamrock Run Fest Half Marathon, finishing with an elapsed time of 2:01:39 and an overall pace of 9:17 min/mile. Jay started consistently, with a strong opening split of 9:14 min/mile, and maintained a steady pace in the early miles, clocking split times of 8:51 min/mile for consecutive miles 2 and 3. However, there was a noteworthy slowdown between miles 6 to 8, where paces dropped to as low as 10:02 and 11:00 min/mile, impacting overall placement. In the latter stage, from mile 12 to the finish, Jay displayed a marked improvement. His pace accelerated to 8:41 min/mile, then impressively to 8:32 min/mile for the final mile. This strong finish highlights Jay's capacity for speed endurance and suggests a potential area to focus on is maintaining earlier momentum in the mid-race segments.
