Strong Finish with Impressive Negative Splits Jacob Weitzel, representing Rock Creek Run Club, completed the 2026 Shamrock Run Fest Half Marathon in 1:31:40, achieving an average pace of 6:59 min/mile. Throughout the race, Jacob showcased remarkable pacing strategy, progressively improving his performance with each split. Beginning with a steady 7:39 min/mile, he strategically reduced his pace, clocking his fastest split at 6:12 min/mile in mile 10. Jacob demonstrated impressive finishing strength, particularly in the latter stages, where he excelled by maintaining consistent negative splits from miles 9 to 13. This approach helped him climb in placement, finishing 152nd overall out of 4,421 participants. He also ranked 44th in the M30-34 division and 135th among male competitors. Such a finish shows Jacob's ability to harness his endurance in the latter part of the race. For future races, consider maintaining this consistent pace from the start for improved overall performance.
