Consistent Pace with Strong Finishes Joe MacKenzie from Portland participated in the 2026 Shamrock Run Fest Half Marathon. He maintained a steady pace, averaging an 8:52 min/mile, concluding the race in 1:56:16. His performance was consistent, keeping most splits under 9:00 min/mile. Notably, he accelerated in the final stages, with impressive paces of 8:16 and 8:14 min/mile in miles 12 and 13. Joe placed 71st in his division (M45-49) showing competitive spirit among 4421 participants. Starting with an 8:25 min/mile pace, he experienced a slight decrease in the middle miles, like the 10:28 split for mile 8. He then improved his pace towards the end of the race. This demonstrates endurance and strategic racing, especially in long-distance events. Focusing on maintaining mid-race pace could enhance future performances even further.
