Consistent Pacing with Strategic Acceleration Thien Nguyen, a member of the Doernbecher Dinos, delivered a solid performance at the 2026 Shamrock Run Fest Half Marathon. Thien started strong, maintaining a consistent pacing strategy through the initial half of the race, with splits ranging from 10:55 to 10:29 minutes per mile for the first three miles. Impressively, during Mile 5, he accelerated with a split pace of 9:50 min/mile, which suggests a well-thought-out mid-race strategy. In summary, Thien completed the race in 2:24:56, averaging an overall pace of 11:03 min/mile. Thien's position showed slight fluctuations, ending the race at 2,980th place overall. Notably, his strategic pacing at specific segments, such as Mile 5 and the final tenth mile, where he picked up his pace to 10:34 min/mile, demonstrates excellent awareness of his capabilities and areas to capitalize on during the race. Fine-tuning the endurance towards the later stages could further enhance performance.
