Consistent Performance with Speed Variability Matt Stern demonstrated a commendable performance at the 2026 Shamrock Run Fest with an overall time of 1:32:52 for the half marathon. Across the first half of the race, his pace was quite consistent, maintaining under 7-minute miles, with peaks at a 6:36 min/mile on mile four. The effort at mile four was his fastest mile, reflecting his capability to accelerate effectively. Notably, he improved his ranking in the M35-39 age division to 26th place around mile twelve. Reviewing the latter portions of the race, particularly miles eight and beyond, Matt experienced slower splits, including an 8:34 min/mile in mile eight, which marked the slowest pace. However, Matt managed to recapture a stronger pace, culminating in a 6:44 for the final mile, which is commendable. Working on steady pacing throughout could enhance performance, as Matt showed the potential for maintaining a sub-7-minute pace consistently.
