Consistency with a Strong Finish Joseph Shatzel maintained a steady performance, finishing the half marathon with an overall time of 1:46:26 and an average pace of 8:07 min/mile. Notably, in the first half of the race, he displayed consistency, averaging a sub-8-minute pace with minimal variation across splits. His initial mile was clocked at 7:46, setting a strong tone for the race. Although he experienced a gradual pace decline mid-race, he managed to maintain a position within the top 15% of his division (M40-44) for most of the course. In the latter half, Joseph's pace saw a resurgence, most impressively with a 7:00 min/mile split at mile 13. His ability to close with a strong final push shows solid potential for faster finishes. Placing 682nd overall out of 4421 participants is commendable, as is holding his own against 550 men and maintaining a top-third position in his age group. Despite a challenging middle portion, Joseph can focus on maintaining his initial pace throughout for future races.
